We will introduce some information about ceramics
in order to help more poeple get familier with them.
The first lesson is about differences between porcelain and pottery.
On the first picture, the left side is porcelain and the right is pottery.
Porcelain is made from a kind of stone called Toseki in Japanese.
It has no water absorbency and its face is quite smooth.
The start of porcelan was in the early of 17th century when
Yi Sam-pyeong, who was forced to come to Japan from Korea,
found good Toseki in Arita, Saga Prefecutre.
While, pottery is made from clayey soil.
It has water absorbency and is thicker than porcelain in many cases.
It was started to make nearly 2,500 years ago.
Which is your taste, porcelain with smooth texture or pottery with warm atmosphere?
