店で取り扱っているお皿は、薄すぎず、厚すぎず、ほどよい重さで控えめな梅の文様も上品です。大きさは15センチほどですが、取り皿だけでなく、デザート用としても使えます。いろいろな場面で使いたくなるお皿です。
経歴
唐津に育ち16歳で単身渡米、以後半生をアメリカで過ごす。日本の独特な文化に目覚め、大学卒業後帰郷し、父、中里隆より陶芸を学ぶ。2000年の東京、万葉洞での親子展を皮切りに、以後日本、アメリカ各地で数々の個展を展開。2007年に故郷唐津に独自の工房monohanakoを設立。2010年にメイン州にmonohanakowestを設立。現在唐津とメインを半年ずつ行き来して作陶している。

The plates displayed at the shop are neither so thin nor so thick and they have right weight. And its pattern of plum is elegant. Its size is about 15 centimeters. Usually this size is good as a serving plate, however, it is also useful for desserts. You can enjoy its many uses.
PROFILE
A 14th generation potter from Japan, Hanako moved to the US at the age of 16 to pursue her education. Both her technique and philosophy as a studio potter are rooted in the ceramic traditions of Karatsu, Japan. But her shapes and surfaces are influenced by years spent living in the West. She specializes in functional tableware that fits in a variety of settings from minimal and modern to traditional and rustic. She has shown her work extensively in Japan and the US since 2000 and currently divides her time between studios in Japan and the US.
