柏木円さんのむぎわら飯わん

初日まであと１週間となった「柏木円彩りのうつわ展」。
今日は柏木さんの作品の中から「むぎわら飯わん」をご紹介します。
まず「むぎわら（むぎわらで、とも）」とは細い縦線が何本も入っている模様のことで、
その模様が麦藁に似ていることからこの名前がついたそうです。
「むぎわら」の模様は飯わんだけでなく湯呑みなどにも使われています。
むぎわら模様は一般的なのですが、柏木さんの飯わんはひと手間違います。
それは内側にも模様が入れてあることです。
絵や模様を描くとき、横線を引くのはあまり難しくありません。
（私自身はしたことがありませんが。。。）
それは、筆先を固定してロクロを回せば自然に横線が引けるからです。
それに対して縦線を真っすぐに何本も引くのは
かなりの技術や慣れや経験が必要なんです。
なので、むぎわら（で）の作品で内側まできっちりと
模様が入れてあるものは少ないのです。
たいていは外側だけだったり、内側の本当に上の部分だけのものが多いんです。
でも柏木さんのむぎわら飯わんは内側まできっちりと模様が入れてあります。
茶色と青のラインが実に規則正しく並んでいます。
少しずれるだけで、最後の部分のラインが茶・茶か青・青になりますよね。。。
ちなみに柏木さんの作品は磁器が多いのですが、この飯わんは陶器です。
The exhibition of KASHIWAGI Madoka will start in one week.
Today we'll introduce one of her works, rice bowl with the pattern of Mugiwara.
First of all, the name, Mugiwara (or Mugiwara-de) comes from straw,
which means that the pattern of Mugiwara looks like straw.
And this pattern is often used for tea cup or other items.
It is popular pattern in Japan, however, her works are different.
Look at the rice bowl above.
You can seen Mugiwara pattern inside the bowl, too.
It's necessary to draw the pattern also inside, for it is very difficult to draw vertical lines.
On the contrary, drawing horizontal lines is easier.
So, many items of Mugiwara have the pattern only outside.
